The theme of this song is the power and gift that everyone gets over time. It has a mention to the faith of Christianity, which has a big impact on a lot of different people. The main idea that the writer was inferring is how much people get influenced over the period of their lives. Then if that person takes a wrong turn in their life all they have to do is believe that they will find their way back home and that they have to learn from those mistakes.
This song used many different and difficult techniques. It was influenced by the artists past experiences. The writer uses his life as an example for others to relate to, “As I walk through the valley of the shadow of LA. The footsteps that were next to me have gone their separate ways. I’ve seen enough now to know that beautiful things don’t always stay that way. I’ve done enough now to know this beautiful place isn’t everything they say.” This gave the impact that living in LA is not all it’s said to be. This song used a pop punk template with a harder-edged feel to it. It is one of the faster songs on the album, but the tone quality and rhythm goes well with the meaning behind it. The lyrics, “Baptized in the river. I’m delivered. I’m delivered.” Is a powerful message that most people catch on as a reference to the Christian beliefs. The end of the song leaves the listener with a strong understanding of the point and purpose of the song when the artist nearly screams out the lyrics,” I confess I’m sinner. I’ve seen a vision of my life and I want to be delivered!”
The human nature of this song has a lot to do with believing and not giving up hope on a specific occurrence in ones life. It proves to people that even if they do make a few mistakes here and there that their beliefs do not change. The song also shows people that it is possible to get through anything whether it is stressful, heartbreaking, or even depressing. Humans have a way to find the bad in everything, and like most songs, people have managed to find the defection of this one. When really this song is perfectly fine with a beautiful meaning humans have turned it into an arguing matter.
The personal value this song has to me is how much the artist and their music have changed the way I look at life. I appreciate many happenings and experiences I have now. I come into many things now with an open mind. This song also made me think and acknowledge my religion a little bit more. I had not realized how much my life would be different if a decision or mistake was made.
