Repo! The Genetic Opera (Movie Review)
Okay, let me first start with what I did like. The cinematography was beautiful. Spectacular and outrageous wardrobe and make-up. The set was stunning. The concept of the movie was new: People in the "not so distant future" keep dying of some random ass stomach disease or some s*** so this guy starts a company (GeneCo) where he finds good organs, gives them to people and makes them sign a contract that states if they cannot pay the required fee, the repo man comes and reposeses your new organs. Meaning he finds you, slices the ever living s*** out of you and takes back what still technacly belongs to GeneCo. And even with such a twisted plot, it failed to live up to any possible potential.
And with the good, there comes the bad. A genetic oprea? More like a genetic karaoke session. The actual music was fine, but the vocals/lyrics were just pathetic. Plus the recording sounded like the vocals lied right on top of the music. Terrible mastering.
I did not connect with any of the characters at all from begining to end, including the lead, Shiloh (That b**** from Spy Kids). Even near the end, when she was about to kick the bucket, I didn't give a s***. I was like, who cares? I just hope that means the movie is over. It couldn't have wraped to make it any worse than it already was.
The prosthetics were stupid as all hell. Usually s*** like that makes me want to vomit all over. This movie, everything was so dramatic. Weather or not they were going for that particular affect, it did not phase, entertain or impress me. It made me feel bad for all the kids that are like, eleven that could make the same looking kind of fake gore for fun and not even get paid for it. The only time the blood and insides looked real/the only reason you should see this movie, was when Paris Hiltons stupid face fell off.
The whole thing seemed like a pathetic excuse to throw blood, guts, half naked whores and singing all together just for the fun of it.
Overall, this movie was THE most ridiculous thing I have ever seen in my entire life. And I've seen alot of stupid s***. I think I'd reather actually be repo'd than watch this movie again.
