Ok so how many of your parent's gave you the "our engery bills are too high so lets bring them down" speech?

I know I've gotten it more than once when I was younger.

So lets start by not wasting water.

So you may be saying "Alex how the heck am I supposed to do that?"

Well heres some pointers:



1.
Take showers, NOT baths!

Heres why: Do you know you could take a 5 HOUR shower and still not use as much water as you would use to fill up a bath tub? I'm not kidding!

You may be thinking: Girls, you may be thinking "Well I don't want to get my hair wet unless i'm washing it..." Ok so put it in a pony tail and don't get it wet. It's not hard. Trust me, I don't want mine to get wet unless I'm washing it either. It takes ALOT for me to get my hair perfect.



2.
When you buy bottled water, DON"T throw away the bottle!

Heres why: Not only does this prevent dooming a bottle to eturnitee in a landfill, but you'll save alot more money buy washing and re-using your bottles than buying a 24 pack of new ones. Most refridgerators have water despencors in them. Don't have one? Get a sink fillter.


You may be thinking: "But if I threw the bottle away, then I wouldn't be using the extra water" True, but throwing it away is ALOT worse than refilling a bottle. Water can be recycled. It's recycled everyday through the Water Cycle but it would take millions of years for ONE plastic bottle to decompose.


3.
Do NOT leave the water running when you brush you teeth!

Heres why: Your not using it while your tooth brush is in your mouth so TURN OFF THE WATER. Thats a pint or more of water that some kid in Africa could be drinking instead of the dirty river water they drink.


You may be thinking: "But what if I AM using the water? Like I'm washing my face and brushing my teeth at the same time?" Well thats fine as long as your not wasting it.





Honestly people, its 3 things that are NOT hard. I do them everyday.
