BEAUTY
Aesthetics & Beauty. Similar but two completely different things. Aesthetics are the eye pleasing candy we see in a sunset or in the genetic makeup of a person that makes them outwardly 'pretty'. 'Pretty' is a perfect word to define something that is aesthetically eye pleasing. But Beauty is something so different.
Beauty is so much more than something you touch. Beauty is abstract; beauty is all around us. Beauty is a feeling, a passion, an idea; beauty is everywhere we turn. Is Beauty undefinable? Beauty is not physical. Sure a 'pretty' flower is just that, a pretty flower. But Beauty is so much more than something that is just eye pleasing. How the human body works is so beautiful, but is it really 'pretty'?
Many philosophers over the ages have seen beauty in many different ways. Both Plato & Aristotle saw beauty to be objective. Plato thought of mathematics to be the highest from of beauty. Kant's views on beauty were the exact opposite; he saw beauty neither moral or useful; he saw beauty only in women. Hegel & Nietzsche thought that beauty was ONLY located in art & that beauty was only eye-pleasing. Some philosophers, such as John Keats & Hamlet, saw beauty beauty as a corruptive poison that infected that male brain. Well I'm here to add my own philosophy onto this amazing list of people who have left their ideas behind.
Beauty is all around us. Beauty is much more than a pretty face or an enlightening idea. Beauty can be found in the most unappealing places. Death is beauty. The idea of a life ending, the circle of a life coming to a close, the thought of an afterlife, is beautiful. There are so many types of beauty, so many variations, so many feelings. The more you open your eyes, the more this world can show you. People that are narrow-minded will never fully understand or appreciate the life that we have been given.
No one will ever fully encompass the whole concept of beauty. We can only understand bits and pieces of the puzzle. Beauty is all around us; it's in the air we breath and the words that we speak. This world is beautiful and everything that is natural deserves beauty in it's title. What does beauty mean to you? What do you think beauty is? Do you think it's only a title you give to a 'pretty' girl or boy? Do you think it's much more? What do you think? Thinking for yourself is beautiful; loving yourself is beautiful. Don't ever forget that. We all are beautiful; we are all special; and we all have amazing futures in front of us.
Don't lose faith in this world just yet; beauty can be found in the darkest places. You are beautiful. Life is beautiful. Everything deserves love.
