No one is going to believe this shit!!

I just have to blog about this but I can't do it on My Space because the person involved is a friend on there. So, I decided to do it here as it does involve Good Charlotte.

I have this friend who I've known since since she was like 13 or 14 years old. She and her mother and brother were our next door neighbors and that is how we got acquainted. I was in my late 20's then. She used to come over to visit and hang out and listen to music with me and my husband. We were really into Ozzy Osbourne back then. She was listening to stuff like weird Al and Cher and crap like that. Once she heard Ozzy, she got really obsessed with him and starting buying his albums and posters etc. He was playing down at Saratoga Springs that summer so we surprised her and brought her to his show.

And that is how it all started. I was also into Bon Jovi, so she got into Bon Jovi. Anything I was into, she got into. I absolutely love Halloween and always wished I'd been married on Halloween. What does she do, gets married on Halloween. I fall in love with the movie, "The Crow" She falls in love with the movie, "The Crow". She apparently idolized me and wanted to be like me. We went to more and more shows together. When Ozzfest started, we starting going to that together every year. I really enjoyed her company at first. But, things starting changing around the time she graduated from High school. We went to see Motley Crue together and me, my husband and her stayed at a hotel in Worcester Mass. I crashed after the concert. My husband and her were still wide awake. He asked her if she wanted to take a walk with him outside and she accused him of trying to sexually molest her. (It was all perfectly innocent) He was devastated. She was like a daughter to him.

We didn't talk for a while after that. She starting hanging around with a new group of people, including a kid named Justin who she really had a thing for. Unfortunately, he had a thing for a girl he had graduated with. Once this girl and him started college that fall, he ended up committing suicide in his dorm room. My friend was never, ever the same after that.

She and I sort of drifted back together after a mutual friend of ours had a long talk with her mom one day and he found out that she had been sexually molested by her own father and that is why her mother left him in the middle of the night took her and her brother to Arizona to live for a while. Her mother thought she suffered from PTSD and that is why she accused my husband of trying to molest her. I forgave her, although my husband never has.


Anyway, we continued our friendship. Continued going to shows. By this time I'd had another baby, she had met a guy and started living with him. That is when she really starting going off the deep end. She changed so much after meeting this guy, who is a strange character in his own right.

My friend became a co-dependent mess. She can't let this guy out of her sight. She is a control freak and worries excessively about everything. He suffered a seizure and it just made her worse. Traveling to shows with her got to be a nightmare. They would fight and argue and she would worry about everything so much it wasn't even fun to go to Ozzfest anymore. By this time we were both into very heavy metal.. Cradle of Filth, Lamb of God, Hatebreed. Although she was listening to Nickelback and stuff like that too.

Then Good Charlotte came along. My daughter and her friend, although they were really young, got into them. So, naturally, I heard their music in my house all the time and started getting into them also. In fact, I started to like them better than the metal I had always listened to. I really got into buying all the teeny bopper mags to get posters and pictures of them, and watching their videos on MTV. Then I took the girls to a Good Charlotte concert, and my like became a love!!! Good Charlotte was replacing my posters of Rob Zombie and Korn and Type of Negative. I starting a GC scrapbook. I was watching their DVDs over and over.

I still liked metal though. I went to the Family Values tour last year to see Korn and company, two days before I headed out to see Good Charlotte open for Justin Timberlake. I just realized that I liked to plan and travel to shows on my own with my daughter and her friend, more than I liked going with my friend and her pain in the ass husband.


Which brings me to the episode yesterday. The one that made me feel kind of like shit but also made me just shake my head and laugh.

I had Friday off so I cleaned my bedroom and packed up a lot of stuff to give away. I'm an incredible pack rat. I have started to feel overwhelmed with stuff so I want to clean out my house. I have collected skulls for years. I have all kinds of them but with my new cat who climbs on everything, and the amount of dust I get in my house, I decided to give some away. I put them into a box and emailed my friend on myspace that I was going to bring them over.

We haven't talked for quite a while because all she ever blogs about is stuff going on with the neighbors at her condo and she bitches and complains about where they park, what they throw in the dumpster etc etc.
She even posts pictures of stuff like that on her My Space profile. It is crazy!!! I mean, who cares. I don't care what my neighbors do. Why should she?

So, I was on my way to another friend's birthday party. I stopped by her condo. She was cold, and didn't have much to say. I was friendly and tried to get her to talk by asking her and her husband if they had seen "Across the Universe " yet. I told them how much I loved it. She didn't say anything. Her husband said. " Wow, you enjoyed something that didn't involve, you-know-who???!!" I asked him what he meant by that. She screamed at him to shut up. He laughed. So, I asked him again what kind of crack was that?? She told him to shut his mouth. He didn't, he said that he was talking about Good Charlotte. I was like, "what???!!!" Then she stood up, starting screaming at me that "first, her mother moved away, then her brother moved away, and I've abandoned her for the past few years" because of my obsession with that (and this is her exact quote) stupid, fucking band that fucking sucks!!!" Then she bursts into tears and runs up stairs to the bedroom and slams the door.

I was stunned. I couldn't believe this shit. I turned to her husband was told me that she reads my blogs and looks at my pictures on my My space profile and it is all Good Charlotte and that is apparently all I care about anymore. I told him that I still listen to other music. I went to "Taste of Chaos" in March for Gods sake.

So, there it is. My friend is crazy and needs help. She made me feel bad. But, I don't know how to tell her that she is off the wall and has been for years and it just isn't fun to hang with her anymore, and that is why I haven't been going to shows and stuff with her. I didn't abandon her for Good Charlotte. I'm sorry she doesn't like them, but she is the one who is missing out!!
