So, who read about Joel's incident with British Airways and is totally pissed that he felt embarrassed.

For those of you who don't follow Twitter, Joel was told he would have to put on a long sleeved shirt before he boarded their plane because of his tattoos. When I heard about it I was so ticked off. How dare they discriminate about something like that. I don't get it. What's next??? What year are we in anyway people??

I don't usually swear on here but I'm so pissed that Joel had to experience that harrassment just because of his tattoos. And to top it all off those idiots on the plane were laughing at him and staring. I think BA should take the stick out of their butt and stop discriminating based on tattoos. Whats next?! Are they not a public airline with people of all beliefs riding it??! Nobody should have to go through that! Humiliating and Joel should definately write those bozos a letter.
I agree. If it was me, I would do something. I love tattoos and the days are gone where only sailors, prisoners and bikers have them.
His tattoos aren't EVEN offensive. I could see if like he had 666 on him or somethin, but come ON. It's also a religious issue if you go that way.

He should write a letter. Snobby British people, the airline business is hurting and you wanna be discriminating.

Not saying all british ppl are snobby.:)
religion is offensive to some people, especially christianity. A lot of his tattoos are religious and very christian based. Just sayin'...
lol

sorry. I guess i should be mad like everyone else, but I just find it funny.

It is dumb though. They're just tatoos
The truth is that BA are supposed to show imparciality. The truth is that if it was a muslim showing something like that, they would also have been told to cover up. Its not one rule for some, and another others.

As said, its political correctness gone wrong. Welcome to 'Great' Britian, the PC brigade have been doing s*** like that for years. Its for no other reason that seeing someone of a different relegion may offend some people. Its pathetic, but they have put the rules in place, because it has obviously been an issue before. BA have long had issues with relegion, its a business practice and has been for years.

As for the people who laughed, they are ignorant. Ignorance is the biggest disease in Western society.
i get it in a way, but what exactly are the tattoos going to do, come alive and crash plane---arhhhhhhh run from killer tattoos!!
So if a person gets on the plane wearing a yamica or turban they are supposed to remove it because they might offend someone else riding the plane? BULLsh... Religion no matter what demonination should not be subject to having something removed or covered up just because it might offend someone else riding. So cover your damn eyes or better yet..put on some headphones or read a magazine. Now if a fellow passenger starts acting strangely and pulls out a gun or something..then you may have cause for worry. But to make someone change their attire just because you don't like what they are wearing or have some body art..thats descrimination plain and simple. Don't like the person's tattoos or religious affiliation? TOUGH COOKIES. GET OVER IT. Simply amazing that so called civilization still hasn't moved forward into the age of enlightment.
Ignorance is the biggest disease in all society.
I don't think it's a religion issue really people.

The churches of "england" and great britain have always been christian one way or another...maybe not always but for the last 1500 years or so.

Yesh they have done some great atrocities in the name of GOD but making Joel Madden put a shirt on isn't one of them I think.

it's probably that someone at BA doesn't like the grotesque look of tattoos plain and simple.
I thought it was disgusting... People, no matter if it's Joel or some other none famous guy, should be subjected to that. So many people have tattoo's, some that are obscene, but Joel's aren't. It's just a form of expression, I've seen people wearing T-shirts that are far more offensive than most people's tattoo's. They don't get asked not to wear them in public.
As for the religion thing, as someone has said, people from some religions are allowed to cover the entire of their heads. I don't believe that anyone would dare ask them to take it off because it may offend some people, because that would be disrespecting their religion.
It was out right discrimination, someone abusing their authority at BA, maybe that has a grudge against tattoo's and was having a b****-ass day...
Pathetic if ya ask me... My best mate is heavily tattooed and he's had similar treatment in places, been asked to leave etc...
Ridiculous...
I'd like to write to BA and let them know what I/we think about it on here?!
'it's probably that someone at BA doesn't like the grotesque look of tattoos plain and simple'.

You hit the nail on the head with that statement. It most likely WAS the reason for Joel's getting harassed. Just somebody who was offended by them and took it out on Joel because he had 'THE POWER'. Power does go to peoples heads. And to those other passengers who thought it was funny...well wait till they have something like this happen to THEM. Won't be so funny then will it?
