By now I'm sure a lot of you have heard about the boxing match between Benji and Riki Rachtman. It is an event being arranged by Benji's friend Jason Ellis, probably for his website. Not sure where or when this match is taking place.
But never the less, I happen to be friends with Riki on Myspace as he was someone I admired years ago. Lately though he is becoming nothing but a reality TV has been. He is whining about being hated by GC fans and his fans are being just plan mean. I think GC fans should leave their opinions on his website. Here is a link to blog. We gotta stand up for Benji.
I think we're talking here about some deeper thing. As yor all know there's always will be someone who won't like some kind of music. Who will be judging it, make a laugh of it or just hating it etc. Always. That's the way it is. And I know it's sad, but that's the truth. However I don't like sentence "this .... (put here any kind of music) is better than this" or "this music or nothing". I think people should be more tolerat about some stuffs. Other thing is that GC sung about this kind of behaviour so many times (for example: in "I just wanna live" or "The Click") & they spoke about it in interviews too. In my opinion we can support Benji or the band by the talk whit other fans - normal converstation when we can explain our point of view.I know it can be hard - becouse it's hard to change someone's opinions, expectially "hardcore" fans's opinion - but at least we could try. I have a lot ot these kind converstations whit my brother who - speaking of devil - is a heavy metal fan & I know this could work:)
I used to be totally into metal for years. Right up until the day my daughter and her friend started listening to Good Charlotte. They played them so much at home and in the car that I started to really like their music. It was refreshing and so different, and it opened the door to so many different bands that I would have never bothered with before. I've actually lost some friends over my love for Good Charlotte. We don't talk anymore because they are so metal and now I'm more open minded to all music. But, enough about me. I wasn't implying we should insult the people who left comments, unless you want to. I just thought we should go and leave pro Benji comments because there aren't too many.
"I wasn't implying we should insult the people who left comments, unless you want to."
No, I don't want to. I don't islut people becouse of their sense in music:)
Hymm, pro-Benjamin you saying.. *thinkig* Good idea
And about your story - that's really sad what happened between you & your friends:( But then again I'm suprised that they acted like that. I mean- they were your friends, right? Friends should like you just becouse of who you are not about kind of music that you're listen to.Er... sorry:/
"They played them so much at home and in the car that I started to really like their music."
Ha! Your example (whit starting to like GC's music) showed that it is possible:)
I will always support Benji Madden no matter what it is in reference to. If he was to do something really bad..of course I wouldn't like that..but I would still like Benji. (That would never happen because Benji is just too nice). Also, music to me is just music no matter what 'kind' it is. If I like it..I will listen. If I don't like it I turn it off. But what I won't do is critisize somebody else's music. Because music is an art. As for the fans of this dude..well they can like him..but my heart is with Benji Madden. :) I be lovin da Benj. :)
Too bad his blog is set to private or I would comment. And there ain't no way in hell I'm adding that bitter bastard. lol
And yeah, I agree...those hardcore metal people are snobs..also the hardcore punk rock people...I just hate it when people say "Your music sucks" and they judge you as a person for it. :/ It's the most stupidest thing in the world.
Good Charlotte has experienced so much s*** with that. Rikki Rachtman is an old tool. He just needs to shutup and enjoy the rest of his life.
I think Rikki Rachtman should suck it up and act more mature like you. He obviously is going into a mid life crisis....starting unnecessary conflicts with younger people. Well, at least I think Rikki Rachtman is older. He sure looks older. lol
And whoever said "Pop" music was bad? [I bring this up because of Rikki Rachtman's apparent hate for Good Charlotte and their pop sound]. It's the lyrics that matter. Their sound may be a tad upbeat, but that's because they're not afraid to try new things and they appreciate other music.
I think a big reason why GC gets bashed is because they became sooo mainstream...and you always have those stupid people that refuse to like music that others like..so they make up reasons not to like it..even though the real reason why is they want to be "different" and not like mainstream.
I'm sorry but in my eyes..that's a poser. Stupid people calling GC posers are hypocritical. How can you not listen to GC and not like their songs? :/ I mean, they have a catchy beat, chorus, and they have some meaning. What's not to like?
...and sorry for all the posting lol. I had a rant in me. XD
I don't know how old he is..nor do I really know WHO he is. :D But he can start stuff if he wants. He's feeling his oats. :D But you know what they always say..those who laugh first laugh last. :D My money is on Benji! :)
Your entitled to rant! :D I think too much emphasis is put on what type of music a person listens to. How about just enjoying it and if you don't like it go quietly away? HMMMM? Thats not hard to do. I think its narrow minded people who think only THEIR music is the best.
Riki is in his forties, same as me. He is a club owner, radio personality and has been on reality TV but I knew him as the host of Headbangers Ball from 1990 to 1995. He seemed really cool back then and was so much fun to watch. But, he was always really opinionated about music. Although he hosted a metal show, I remember him claiming to be more into Punk then Metal.
AS for him and other people who hate Good Charlotte and call them a "boy band" posers etc. They just don't understand. All I know is that I feel so much more alive since I decided to give other genres besides metal a chance.
