So I was watching Paris's BFF (I like it and want to see who goes home!) and a group went with Paris to Japan for the Japan VMAs. They go out to dinner and they are sitting in front of the hot skillet where the food is being prepared. To let people see how fresh the seafood is, they took a poor shrimp that was ALIVE and threw it on that hot skillet. Now thats just cruelty in the extreme in my opinion. Just because a creature doesn't have higher intelligence doesn't mean it can't feel pain. Thats torture. The poor shrimp was writhing and it was just disgusting. :( To some its just a shrimp..and who cares. But I CARE! This one girl who was with Paris's group jumped up and went out side in shock. Paris followed her and comforted her saying she loves animals too. People make me sick with their 'we are more intelligent and we have to eat therefore we don't care how we go about the process'. Just saying it makes me sick of us humans when I see that kind of cruelty. And you know what? Being cruel like that does show up in other areas of people's lives. If a person can do that to an animal or some helpless creature..they can do that to a human. In my humble and uneducated emotional opinion. :(

I eat like all kinds of fish and meat, but I think it's totally horrible as the many animals suffer when they are slaughtered or killed. It is also bad to see them in cages. Actually, you should immediately be vegetarians when something looks.
:) You have a good point too. Some cultures..thats what they do and how they prepare their food. Its just their culture. I hate seeing animals and creatures getting killed though. It just bothers me.
I think if we all could actually see just how the animals are slaughterd so we can eat, a lot of us would never be able to eat meat again! I watched this one hunting program once and the dude was in camaflage and he was in this tree stand and along came this magnificent buck just walking minding its own business and the guy was all excited and then he shot the deer. One minute its magestic and looking so beautiful and the next its just lying there being this dude's trophy because of its antlers. I understand that sometimes its necessary to thin the herds out because of the abundance of the deer and they go hungry during wintertime. But most of the time its just for sport.
uh you do realize that other seafood isn't dead either before it's cooked. Lobsters are boiled alive. not pleasant either. I hate lobster anyways so I just don't eat it, but i like crab and that really is no different. Yeah i think it's horrible and definitely not something tv appropriate, but it's a fact of life in the kitchen.
There's one main thing missing here... 'HUMANE'... Most days you pick up the paper and there's some person whinging that their 'human rights' are being abused because their neighbours tree is 6ft3 instead of the 6ft limit... That prisoners have to have some weird luxury lifestyle because its inhumane to keep people caged up... people that have murdered, raped and injured people, people that have destroyed other humans lives in one selfish act... and yet these people get the rights to swimming pools, gyms and other hobby activities so it doesn't offend their human rights...
The point is, some of the most dispicable humans don't get treated as badly as some people treat animals. I understand there's a food chain, animals eat other animals... But theres humane ways of doing things without making a creature that has done nothing wrong suffer, just so we can enjoy it... To say we're supposed to be the more intelligent life forms, some things do make me highly doubt it... I'm not vegetarian, or vegan... as i say, i understand about the whole food chain thing... its not what is done its the way people do it.. there's very little need for suffering...
I have lost so much faith in the human race any more, it's disgusting how no one cares for the other, it's all about yourself, yourself, yourself! Where'd the love go?
I agree.
I agree with you too! There is no need to make something suffer just because we plan to eat it. :(
Amen to that one... I'm sick of peoples selfishness.. everyone's too busy with their own lives... it'd be a much better place if people would spare a thought for the other living creatures, both human and animals that we share our planet with...
I so agree with you. Just because we have the power over things doesn't mean we have the right to make them suffer for our good.
It's like, I'm only 20 years old, but both my parents are of an older generation, shall we say.. so I've been brought up with that kind of attitude... Ya know, treat people how you want to be treated, manners don't cost anything... Smile at someone on the street, say hi, even if you don't know them kinda thing... Just general nice things people seem to neglect nowadays...

In fact... a little story... I work at a music/DVD store... this woman and what we assume was her son came in. Had a look round, then came up to me. They started waving their arms around, making gestures and the likes... Instantly I picked up on the fact they were deaf, I tried to explain i didn't understand sign language... but they found lip reading difficult, so I got a pen and paper... We managed to use that as our communication, now, the DVD wasn't in stock at our store, so I offered to order it for her, sent to her house etc... she was more than grateful, and wrote down to me, because they were deaf-mutes... meaning they couldn't talk, she went to one of our compititors before (not mentioning names :P) and asked for the same DVD, they just told her no, and went about their day.
Anyhow ordered the DVD she paid for it... and I gave her the reciept... we usually tell people to give us a call if they have any problems, if it doesn't arrive etc... but last minute it occured to me, how is she going to phone? So I gave her my email address, and told her to contact me through that if she had any problems and I'd sort it for her.
She thanked me and my friend that helped me out and went about her day... Happy she got the DVD as it was a birthday present for someone.

Now that evening, I got an email from this woman, I don't even know her name, but she explained how she was from leicester, and was visiting her son.. but she was now only going to buy her DVD's and things from us... because we went that extra bit to help her and try and understand what she wanted.
It took like 45 minutes to serve her but the email she sent nearly made me cry... on about how people usually react to her and things. It's just not fair how people treat each other... But yeh.. little bit of positivity... :)
Aww, that's sweet. Too little of that goes around.
