arrrrg im pissed ( credit card scam)
some f***** up human being stole my credit card and used about 10.000$ on it.
im so broke right now, i need to pay it all back cause the police cant find the person who did it.
and i have a little kids to feed and all...
so i have to sell all my dvds and ps2 and wii games my tv i had to stop my cable and my internet so in a few days i will not be here cause i have no internet.
anyone els that have been in this situation ????

Did you report it stolen straightaway? In writing too? If you did, then you aren't liable to pay.
But maybe it's different in Britain...

In the U.S. you can definitely appeal that. I don't know about where you are, but here, identity theft is a HUGE problem and it usually takes up to a year for people to even find out they've been screwed.

Aww that really sucks!!! and your the person that that lady wrote that really nice thread about arent you? you do so much for others and this happens to you...thats so unfair!!!!! Im sure you can get out of it some how, i dont really know how but you should definitely try to appeal it!

yes i am that girl she wrote about.
and yes this happent to me, and i report it stolen and all...
but i was on vication when it was stolen and someone used my credit card to buy stuff online and got to and atm to get some cash...
the police dont know who it is and i dont have insurens or anything its to exspensive so i stand here with a hugh bill to pay by my self.

im from denmark... and here its not that normal with identity theft.
but yes ive heard about some hugh cases in the US, my old friend is a cop so ive heard alot about it.

i report it stolen the day after it got stolten, i didnt know it was gone til the morning after where i was out buying some breakfast....
and i went to the police and all and i got it on writing and everything but i still have to pay it my self if they dont find the person(s) that did it.

Wasn't there surveilance cameras at the atm? There usually is a time frame of when the cash was taken out and they can look at them. Plus an atm machine has to have a pin number to access it..at least here in the USA. Most banks in the USA have identity theft practices now. Sorry you are going through this.

well i am kind of stupid cause i had my pin code with my credit card.... cause i cant remember that well.
all that is up to the police so i hope the figure out that there maybe is a camera they can look at at the atm.

The surveilance camera would make it easier to identify who took the cash out. I hope everything goes well. My daughter had problems with her banking. I won't go into details but her 'friend' turned out to be a crook. This 'friend' owes me and my husband $500 dollars. She is under a time frame till we take legal action to get the money back.

WTF, the police don't have anything to do with credit cards over here...we just deal with the crap through the actual credit card company.
That's so strange that police would be involved in a private business matter like credit card theft.
Why the heck do you have a credit card with THAT much of a limit?!?!

we get our credit cards from the bank and not from some other company.
and here in DK the police have to help out in any crime, also credit card theft.
here you can get as high credit limit on your credit card as you want to as long as you can pay it back on your next sallery. mine is on 15.000 danish kr and i know i can handle such high credit limit i never use all 15.000 ive only once og twice used about 5000 cause i got some extra bills.
and even if you have a credit limit you can still use money so you go over your credit limit thats why its so f***** to have it.
some people cant controle it others can, and when you cant controle it you end up owning a lot of money to the bank.
but in my case i know how to controle my credit limit but someone stoled it and used it then its hard to have the controle.
