I used to love GC they were it no other bands would even enter my world until Good Morning Revival. The band that I once loved appears to be heading techno and commercialised. What happened to when GC was a band that was unaired on mainstream pop radio. Don't get me wrong I am thrilled for their success but I can't help but feel a little sold down the river. I just hope that their next album can find its way out of mainstream a bit or at least out of Techno.
Hey Benji cheers for the reply I don't mean to sound like I'm dissing GC- it's still my fav band. GMR was just unexpected the change, every album has changed so much but from life and death the GMR was completely different. I get that you have to write what you feel which what I've loved about your music. I'm looking forward to album 5, I hope you guys are gr8 take it easy.
Good Morning Revival is better than the chronicles album, that one was to dark, GMR is a lot like their old stuff.. it's just grown...
just like the guys have, you can't expect them to never change, if that happened they wouldn't have made a 3rd or 4th album
Thank you I appreciate your opinion and I am always open to objective criticism but I wasn't stating that I don't like the band because they appeared to be heading mainstream I still love the band I'm just not the biggest fan of GMR.
I'm glad you can take objective criticism. It's a good quality to have.
But you should have specified, because in your post you said, "I used to love GC they were it no other bands would even enter my world until Good Morning Revival."
That makes it seem like you stopped liking them as much when GMR came out. But anyways, it's not my place to tell you you're right or wrong. I already stated my opinion. =]
Thanks for the heads up next time I will be more specific in my posts. So I just want to state for the record (Not to you specifically but for everyone) that I still love GC.
And just so you know, I was trying to rag on you persay. Mainly it was to everyone that's been saying the same kind of thing. So I wasn't trying to be a complete twat scab or anything.
I agree, I admired them for branching out into a different area, that takes some guts and it has worked for me. At least it shows they are not a one trick pony!
GC's always been pop. The thing I've always liked about them is that they can take an idea for a song and make it their own, no matter what kind of genre it is. They always surprise me, in a good way. I remember them saying what direction the album was before I actually heard it and yeah I'd get a little worried at first, then when I heard it, it was amazing. They always exceed my expectations.
Same here. I always have this expectation of their new albums, and they always go way beyond what I think they will. And honestly, at first I wasn't diggin' the GMR album, but after I listened to it a bit more, I really, really liked it. And I love how in every album it shows how much they've grown. They amaze me everytime a new album comes out.
