Music Reviews and Photography

I was just wondering if anyone on here knows if you're allowed to write and publish a review on a gig you've been to without having permission to do so? After all it's only an opinion right? But still because it's an outside source would you need permission to do it, and to use the photographs from that gig?

Just a thought if anyone has any idea on it at all :)
